Let’s get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Card Face: 5.5 x 4.25

Card Face:

This card face started as a gel print, created with a stencil and acrylic paint.

  • I created a frame by taping two deckled dies together, spaced evenly all the way around.

  • I secured this to the card face and ran it through the Big Shot.

Other:

I created the two-tone stamped/die-cut sentiment:

  • I put the stamp in the stamp positioner.

  • I applied lime green ink to the top of the stamp several times, stamping between applications until I had the saturation I wanted.

  • I applied a darker green to the bottom of the stamp, meeting and just covering the bottom of the lime green portion. I dabbed the border with a lint-free cloth to remove any harsh lines before stamping. I repeated this until I had the saturation I wanted.

  • I cut this out with the matching die. I cut two additional pieces and glued them to the back of the sentiment.

  • I added tiny dashes to the lime green portion using a red glitter pen.

  • I added tiny dots to the dark green portion using a gold metallic gel pen.

Assembly

  • I glued the outer card face to the card base and then added the inner portion centering on all sides.

  • I added the Merry Christmas.

  • The card still needed something… hmmm……

  • I looked through my binder ** and found the wee bird, previously coloured and fussy cut. Perfect!

  • I added him in the lower right corner, and added a black shadow underneath with a pen.

  • I scattered red and green bling randomly across the card face.

** See Ready To Go Binder under Techniques in the header to learn how this saves both time and money.

Final Thoughts:

I was undecided on this combination, until I added the bird. Now I love the card! I often find that one final element makes the difference: does that ever happen to you?
