Let’s Get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Red Border: 5.25 x 4 ***

Card Face: 5 x 3.75

Card Face:

  • I attached the stencil to the card face with Mint Tape, and applied a vibrant red ink across the surface.

  • In this instance I wanted a bright, solid coating of ink, so I paid attention to that as I worked, adding more where necessary.

  • I stamped the bird so that it appeared to be resting on one of the arcs.

Other:

  • I also stamped and coloured the little bird on a separate piece of paper, and then cut him out. Fussy cutting around the little feet would have been hard (I’m not the best fussy- cutter- outer), so I simply cut them off.

  • I die cut the sentiment from gold cardstock.

Assembly:

  • I glued the red cardstock to the card base, centering on all four sides.

  • I glued the card face onto this new layer, again centering on all four sides.

  • I glued the bird in place over the stamped version, lining him up carefully so that his feet were properly positioned.

  • I glued the sentiment in place.

  • I thought I was done, but as I looked at the card I wanted something more … so I grabbed an embossing pen and drew some lines coming out of the bird’s beak , added gold embossing powder and heat set it.

  • This created a visual link between the bird and the Falala, as well as an additional bit of glimmer and fun on the card face.

Final thoughts:

This is a fun, whimsical little card. I’m happy with the way it turned out!
