Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Let’s Get Started:

Card Base: 4.25 x 11, scored and folded at 5.5

Card Face: 4 x 5.5

Card Face:

  • This stencil has 6 different dancers in wonderful positions of exuberance. So first I had to decide which one would be used on my card. (I have always been fascinated by ballet, so it didn’t take long to choose.)

  • I secured that part of the stencil on the center of the panel and applied black Memento ink, increasing saturation until I was satisfied.

  • I put the panel into the stamp positioner and grabbed a stamp that would provide corner detail. I checked the positioning by laying an acetate sheet over the card face and stamping with the Memento ink. I made a slight adjustment, checking it again with with acetate sheet. Then I removed the acetate and stamped directly onto the card face.

  • I rotated the cardstock, repeating the process three times until I had stamped each corner.

  • Leaving the card face in the stamp positioner, I put the sentiment in place and stamped it with the same black ink. (This sentiment was created in an arc, so it worked beautifully for this purpose.)

  • I centered an oval die around the dancer and ran it through my Big Shot.

  • I put a self adhesive foam sheet on the back of the card face.

Assembly:

  • I put liquid glue on the back of the card face and centered it vertically on the card base.

  • When this had dried I carefully laid the oval with the dancer back into the opening.

  • I added three (very!) tiny iridescent gems to the dancer to create a belt.

  • I added slightly larger gems in each corner.

Final thoughts:

I really love the simplicity of this card.
