Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs.  Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get Started:

Card Base: 5 x 10, scored and folded at 5

Green Border: 4 ⅛ x 4 ⅛ *

Card Face: 4 x 4

See Cheating on Layers and Borders under Stretch Your Pennies in the header

Card Face:

  • I laid the card face on my grip mat and then put the stencil in place over this.

  • I brushed lime green on one side,  and a dark turquoise on the other,  going back and forth with the two colours in the center to blend them.

  • I taped two circular dies together to create a frame and centered it on the stencil.  I ran it through the Big Shot,  cutting the center out of the pattern.

  • I trimmed the card face down to 4 x 4  (This stencil creates a really fun circular pattern when used as intended:  I lost that by trimming it down into a square.)

Other:

  • I had already stamped and coloured the cupcake -  I simply pulled it out of my Ready to Go Binder and fussy cut around the image. *

  • I also pulled the sentiment from my binder: stamped and not used on another day,  it came in handy at this point!

*See Ready to Go Binder under Techniques in the header to learn how I used this tool to save both time and money.

Assembly:

  • I centered the green layer on the card base and glued it down.

  • I glued the card face on top of this.

  • I glued the middle section back in, centering carefully.

  • I added the cupcake.

  • I added the sentiment on an angle, as shown.

Final Thoughts:

This is a fun card with a fresh palette, and I’ ’ll be happy to send it along to a friend when the time comes.
