Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs.  Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get Started:

Card Base:  5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Blue Layer:  5.5 x 4.25

Card Face: 5.25 x 4

Card Face:

  • I put the card face onto my Grip Mat and positioned the first stencil.

  • I used Mint Tape to mask off the cup and applied brown ink over the section with the coffee splash.  I used varying pressure to allow different shades of ink, creating visual interest.

  • I moved the masking tape off of the cup and positioned it so that the bottom portion of the splash was protected.

  • I used blue ink, brushing the ink from the edges towards the center of the cup,  allowing the ink to fade and create a highlight.

  • I removed that stencil and placed the second directly on top of the coffee spray, slightly to the left on the card:  I added brown ink with a heavy hand.

  • After removing the second stencil I added the third, allowing the script to be slightly to the right on the card face:: once again I applied brown ink with a heavy hand, matching the intensity to what was achieved on the first word.

  • I traced the edges of the coffee cup with a copper metallic gel pen.

  • I added a scribbly black line under the cup with a microliner.

  • I used a corner punch to round the top left and bottom right edges.

  • I cut the card face into three parts. (I was more concerned with framing the sentiment than having three equal sections)

Assembly:

  • I glued the blue layer to the card base.

  • I glued the card face on top of the blue layer -  glueing down the top and bottom pieces as shown, and then centering the middle one.

Final Thoughts:

A fun card,  expressing something we’ve all felt at some point!
