Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Let’s get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Card Face: finished size approximately 5 x 3.75

Scrap for sentiment

Metallic Gold Thread

Card Face:

  • I laid the card face on my Grip Mat and positioned the stencil.

  • I applied a mixture of green, orange and yellow inks across the exposed area. (I was careful not to mix the green and orange as they would have created mud.)

  • I put the card face into an embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot to create the waves.

  • I brushed a medium blue ink pad over the raised areas created by the embossing folder.

  • I used a deckled edged die to cut the card face down to size

  • I dragged the edges of the card face over the blue ink pad to add definition.

Other:

  • I stamped the sentiment onto the scrap of cardstock using Versamark ink.

  • I added gold embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.

  • I used a die to cut the sentiment down to the size and shape shown in the image.

  • I secured the metallic gold thread to the back of the card face using scotch tape.

  • I wound it around the card face 5x, allowing it to spread on the right but keeping it tightly together on the left.

  • I cut the thread and taped the end to the back of the card face.

Assembly

  • I glued the card face to the card base.

  • I put dimensional foam on the back of the sentiment and put it in place.

  • I added one gold bead to each strand of the metallic thread, varying as shown in the image.

Final Thoughts:

I’m really happy with the addition of the gold pearls to the metallic thread: they finished the card off nicely.
