Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs . Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s Get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Card Face:5.5 x 4.25

Card stock: 5.25 x 4

Strip of Red Cardstock : 1/8 x 5.25

Card Face:

  • I attached the stencil to the card face with mint tape.

  • I used gold embossing paste *** and a flat foam applicator to apply this through the stencil. I used a "pouncing" motion, which resulted in a very textured surface.

  • I removed the stencil and put it into water immediately.

  • I put the card face aside to dry.

  • Once the card face was dry, I cut it down to 5.25 x 2.5

Other:

I put the plain layer into my stamp positioner and stamped the sentiment towards the bottom as shown with bright red ink, repeating the process until I was satisfied with the intensity.

*** Technique: see Using Multi-Media Products With Stencils under this tab in the header

Assembly:

  • I glued the layer with the sentiment onto the card base, centering vertically and aligning flush to the bottom edge.

  • I glued the card face on top of this layer, lining it up flush at the top and side edges.

  • I glued the narrow strip of red card stock along the edge of the card face.

  • I added small gold pearls to the center of each poinsettia in the pattern.

Final thoughts:

The texture of the gold embossing paste adds a touch of luxe to this card that is really quite striking.
