Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs.  Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get Started:

Card Base:  5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Border Frame: 5.25 x 4

Card Face: 5.5 x 4.25

I had already stamped and coloured the scene with the mouse…  it had been waiting in my Someday binder for inspiration on what to do next.

Card Face:

  • I laid the card face on my Grip Mat and positioned the stencil over top.

  • I applied yellow ink, starting with firm pressure in the upper left but allowing the colour to fade quickly as it approached the mouse.

  • I went back and added additional ink to the upper left a couple of times,  to increase the contrast.

  • I added a light gray shadow under the mouse and the bags of coffee using an alcohol marker.

Other:

  • I selected two stitched rectangle dies in the appropriate sizes, and taped one inside the other so they couldn’t shift once I had ensured even spacing all the way around.  I ran these through the Big Shot to create the frame.

  • I stamped the “it’s coffee thirty” using black ink,  and cut it out with a small circular die.

  • I looked through my Ready to Go binder * to select the sentiments.

*See Ready to Go binder  under Techniques in the header to learn how I use this as a tool to save time and money.

Assembly:

  • I glued the card face to the card base.

  • I glued the frame in place as shown.

  • I added the sentiments.

Final Thoughts:

I think this mouse has already had his coffee,  given that he can juggle coffee beans!

I am happy with this fun whimsical card:  I have a number of coffee-loving friends who would enjoy this.
