Let’s get Started:

Card Base  5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Border: 5.5 x 4 *

Card Face: 5.5 x 3 ⅞

Yellow Vellum:  approximately 1” x 5

See Cheating on Layers and Borders under Stretch Your Pennies in the header

Card Face:

This is such a fun stencil - it has three layers that fit together in unexpected ways.

  • I put the card face onto the Grip Mat and positioned the first stencil.  I applied lime green ink across the stencil.

  • I removed the stencil and worked through the next two using blue and yellow inks.

  • I used a tiny birthday cake stamp and black ink to add cake images randomly on the card face.

Other:

  • I loved this colourful, wacky sentiment -  now what?  Glancing around I noticed a piece of yellow vellum pushed off to one side of the desk.

  • I grabbed that and dusted it well with anti-static powder.

  • I stamped Happy Birthday onto the vellum with Versamark embossing ink, sprinkled gold embossing powder over the embossing ink and set it with my heat gun.

Assembly:

  • I placed the vellum across the center of the card face, folded both ends to fit snugly and then secured it with scotch tape on the back.

  • I glued the green border to the card base, centering vertically.

  • I added the card face onto the green layer, again centering vertically.

  • I added three small pieces of bling to the vellum:  I used glue dots to secure them to prevent warping (vellum does not like liquid!)

Final Thoughts:

This is such a fun stencil,  and I love these three colours together.  The yellow vellum was pure serendipity -  it was sitting there waiting to be put away, and in the end it worked so well on this card.
