Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs . Let’s Get Started:

Cream Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Cream Card Face:5.25 x 4

4 x 1.75" piece of Cream Cardstock for Sentiment

4 x 2" piece of copper foil cardstock to frame sentiment

Card Face:

  • I secured my stencil to my cardface with Mint Tape, got out my blending brushes and set to work.

  • I applied a dark teal ink with a heavy hand.

  • I ran the card face through my Big Shot with an embossing folder.

  • Using a copper metallic ink pad, I lightly brushed across the surface of the raised areas on the embossing. I also allowed a "smudge" of ink here and there.

Other:

I stamped the sentiment on the cream coloured strip of card stock, using black ink.

Assembly:

  • I added dimensional tape to the back of the card face, and then centered this on the card base.

  • I centered the sentiment strip horizonally on the copper foil and glued the two together.

  • I glued this new layer directly to the card face.

  • I added embellishments randomly on the sentiment strip.

Final thoughts:

The ink splotches weren't part of the original plan ... after I had brushed the ink onto the embossing to highlight the design, I realized that I had created a splotch in error. Necessity being the mother of invention, I decided to add a few more . I thought the result looked ok, so I kept on going .

This card would work for males or femailes, for many different occasions. I like the fact that it's so versitile.
