Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)
Let’s get Started:
Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25
Card Face:5.25 x 4
Black cardstock for feather
Card Face:
I put the card face onto the grip mat and positioned the stencil.
I used a firm hand to press Versamark embossing ink through the openings, added clear embossing powder and used my heat gun to set it.
I laid the card face on a large piece of plastic, positioned in the center.
I sprinkled small amounts of yellow and red Brusho pigment crystals around the card face, and then spritzed on water.
The water activated the crystals, causing an explosion of intense colour.
I put the panel aside overnight to allow it to thoroughly dry.
Once dry, I rubbed the card face vigorously with a microfiber cloth to remove the pigment from the embossing.
I added dimensional foam to the back of the card face.
Other:
I die cut the feather out of black cardstock.
I pulled the sentiment out of my Ready to Go Binder.*
*See Ready to Go Binder under Techniques in the header.
Assembly
I glued the card face to the card base.
I glued the black feather in place.
I added 3 iridescent pearls to the feather.
I added the sentiment to complete the card.
Final Thoughts:
I love the intense colour created by pigment crystals - I should use mine more often!
One fact is omitted from the tutorial - this card face was created several months before it was used! I knew I liked it - but couldn’t quite finish it off as I wanted. Finally, inspiration struck - hallelujah 😁
