Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Black Border: 5.5 x 4.25

Card Face:5 ⅞ x 4 ⅛

An extra piece of cream cardstock for the frame

Black cardstock.

Card Face:

  • I laid the card face on the Grip Mat and positioned the stencil.

  • I used a light hand to brush reddish-brown ink across the exposed surface.

  • I moved the stencil slightly up and to the right and brushed on the same ink, this time with a heavier hand.

  • This created the effect of an image with a shadow.

Other:

  • I die-cut the small frame from cream cardstock.

  • I brushed the same ink onto a scrap of cream cardstock and die-cut the four corner pieces.

  • I cut the “man” silhouette and the heart from black cardstock.

  • I pressed the heart into my versamark embossing pad, sprinkled it with variegated embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.

, Assembly

  • I glued the frame in place and added the four brown corners.

  • I added the pieces of the “man” and the black heart with glue.

  • I decided that the frame needed more definition, so I outlined it with a black marker.

Final Thoughts:

I really like this combination of elements - they work well together.
