Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)
Let’s get started:
Cream Card Base:5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25
Border: Black strips 5.5 x .25 , and 5.5 x 1.5
Cream Card Face: 5.5 x 4
Card Face:
I secured the stencil to the card face with Mint Tape.
I used yellow ink across the entire surface, varying the pressure to allow for a variation in tone.
I added a bit of embossing paste to the belly of each bird.***
After allowing the paste to dry completely, I dusted the entire surface with anti-static powder.
I put the card face into my stamp positioner and added the sentiment with black pigment ink.
I removed the card face from the positioner and immediately added clear embossing powder, and set it with my heat gun.
I used a stitched edger die to remove approximately 1” from the right-hand side.

Other:
I used the same stitched edger die on the 5.5 x 1.5” piece of black cardstock.
Assembly:
I glued the 5.5 x .25” of cardstock to the left-hand side of the card base.
I glued the die-cut piece of black card stock behind the right-hand edge of the card face, allowing it to peek out just a bit on the right.
I glued the card face to the card base, butting it up snugly against the black strip on the left.
I added three small black embellishments to the lower right, on the exposed cream portion.
Final Thoughts
A fun card, with an unexpected bit of glimmer from the embossing paste. I applied this with the tip of a narrow palette knife, and in trying to make sure that it stayed where I wanted it, it got a bit thin in places. If I were to repeat this card I would find a way to fix that.
