Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs.  Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get Started:

Card Base:  8.5 x 7, scored and folded at 3.5

Border: black - 8.5 x 3.5

             White - 8.5 x 3.5

Card Face:7.5 x 3

Card Face:

I created a mask before I started by tracing the dog onto copy paper and then cutting it out.

  • I laid the card face on my Grip Mat and positioned the first stencil towards the left-hand edge of the card.  I created the dog with brown ink.

  • I used the mask to protect the first dog, moved the stencil to the right, and created a second dog with grey ink.

  • I positioned the stencil one last time, towards the right-hand edge this time, and added black ink to create the third dog. I didn’t mask the grey dog but rather applied the black ink with enough intensity to cover the grey where there was an overlap.  This had the effect of making the grey dog recede into the scene.

  • I used the second stencil to create the feeling of grass in the scene, adding green ink over the background, trying not to allow it to get onto the dogs. (I was mostly - but not entirely  - successful!)

  • I cut the card face into three equal pieces.

Other:

  • I used a die to create a border with the white cardstock.

  • I created the sentiments on my computer, and cut both to size with my trimmer.  The bottom sentiment is actually included on the first stencil but was too large for my design.  I love it,  so I incorporated it via computer-generated sentiment.

  • I used my trimmer to cut a black border for the second sentiment.

Assembly:

  • I glued the black layer to the card base.

  • I glued down the three sections of the card face, taking care to keep them even so the images would flow properly, and also watching the spacing between and around them.

  • I glued the white border in place as shown.

  • I added the sentiments on the top and bottom.

  • I scattered several clear bits of bling randomly on the card face.

Final Thoughts:

Such a fun project!  I rarely make slim line cards, and then when I do,  I wonder why I don’t do it more often, LOL.
