Gotta love a shaker card

Let’s get Started:

Card Base:  5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Border: silver card stock:  2 each strips  4.25 x .25

Card Face: 5.5 x 4.25

Card Face:

• I put the card face onto the Grip Mat and positioned the Diagonal Weave stencil.

• I used green and blue across the surface to create a background suggesting grass and sky.

• I removed this stencil and put the Frolicking Dog stencil in place.  This is a layered image,  with both sections contained on one stencil.  

• I positioned the first part of the image and started applying ink to create the flowers, butterflies and the dog.  I wanted a colourful image,  so I masked off areas as necessary as I went along.  

• Once that part of the image was complete,  I shifted the stencil up and applied the finishing details.   I chose metallic pens for most of the areas on this layer,  which added a fun, unexpected effect to the finished result.

• I added birds to the sky to complete the fun scene.

Other:

• I created the sentiment on the computer and used a die to cut it out.

• I cut a second piece with the same die,  using silver cardstock.

• I glued these together with the sentiment on top, allowing the silver to peek out just a bit on the left-hand side. 

Assembly:

• I put the card face into a clear envelope.

• I added a mixture of beads to create the “shaker”  element and then sealed the opening securely. 

• I put tear n’ tape on the back of the bag containing the card face and secured it to the card base.

• I also put tear n’ tape on the back of the two silver strips and the sentiment.  I added one of the strips on each side and the sentiment in the upper right as shown.

Final Thoughts:

Shaker cards are pure fun,  and this Frolicking Puppy was perfect for this card.
