Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs.  Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get Started:

Card Base:  4.25 x 11,  scored and folded at 5.5

Card Face: 4 x 5.5

Card Face:

  • I used a piece of patterned paper for this card base:  I laid it on my grip mat and positioned the stencil on top.

  • I applied brown ink to the open areas of the stencil,  allowing colour variation for visual interest.

Other:

  • I stamped the hat onto another piece of patterned paper from the same package  (it is actually much “browner” than it appears in the picture).  I stamped it with Versamark embossing ink,  and added copper embossing powder setting it with my heat gun.

  • I used the coordinating die to cut it out.

  • I stamped the sentiment with Versamark , again adding copper embossing powder and setting it with my heat gun.

  • I used a die to cut this out.   I also grabbed a small piece of the patterned paper I had used for the hat and cut a second shape to match the sentiment.

Assembly:

  • I glued the card face to the card base, centering vertically.

  • I added the hat towards the top, angled and allowing the brim to extend into the border slightly.

  • I glued the sentiment to the matching shape, offsetting as shown.

  • I added the sentiment to the card face, allowing it to extend onto the hat slightly.

  • I found bling that matched the embossing pretty perfectly, and scattered some randomly to finish the card.

Final Thoughts:

I really like this fun, non-traditional gal card.   I didn’t start out to create a “girl card”,  but the colours speak pretty loudly, and that’s what it has turned out to be.
