Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Let’s get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Red Border Layer: 5.5 x 4.25 **

Card Face: 5.5 x 4

Additional Red Cardstock for Reindeer

Vellum 8 x 1.5

**See Cheating on Lyaers and Borders under Stretch Your Pennies in the header.

Card Face:

  • After laying the card face on the grip mat I positioned the stencil and brushed on dark blue ink across the entire surface.

Other:

  • I die cut the reindeer.

  • I stamped and die cut the sentiment.

Assembly

  • I wrapped the vellum around the card face on the left-hand side , securing it with scotch tape.

  • I used microdot adhesive to secure the reindeer to the card face (I didn’t want to use liquid adhesive on the vellum and risk warping it.) I added a tiny red gem to act as the reindeer’s eye.

  • I glued the red border layer to the card base, and glued the card face on top of this, centering vertically.

  • I glued on the sentiment.

  • I added 3 tiny red gems as shown.

Final Thoughts

This is one of those “ now what?” cards - where I got it to a certain stage, and then couldn’t decide how I wanted to finish it off. It was so simple in the end, and it’s an awesome masculine card.
