Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs.  Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Card Face:5.5 x 4.25

Card Face:

  • I laid the card face on the Grip Mat,  and then positioned the stencil: this is a 6 x 6 stencil,  and using it on this A2 card meant that I had lots of options about how to place it.

  • I used three green inks across the entire surface: a yellow-green, a blue-green and a midtone.

  • After the ink had dried for a few minutes,  I dusted the entire surface with anti-static powder.

  • I put the card face into the stamp positioner and used Versamark embossing ink to stamp the sentiment.

  • Removing the card face from the positioner,  I sprinkled on black embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.

  • Although I had checked the surface for stray powder,  I missed a couple of specks, which were very visible on the card face,  so now I had to make that look deliberate!

  • I sprayed the card front lightly with water and added black embossing powder. *Again I set this with my heat gun.

* See Embossing With Water under Techniques in the header for more detail.

  • I added additional texture by using a .stitched rectangle die on the card face, positioned as shown.

Assembly

  • I glued the card face to the card base, lining up the edges.

  • I glued the rectangle back into the opening.

Final Thoughts:

I love the three greens here -  they added a lot of visual interest.

Although I hadn’t planned on adding all that black embossing powder,  I think it is ok in the end.
