Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs . Let’s Get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.2

Black layer: 5.5 x 4.25

Card Face:5.5 x 3

Small Piece of Gold Foil Cardstock for die cut

Gold Foil Cardstock Strips: 1/8 x 5.5", x 2

Decco foil

Card Face:

  • I secured the stencil to the cardface with Mint Tape and ***applied Duo Gel through the openings.

  • I removed the stencil and immediately put it into water.

  • After allowing the gel to dry completely, I laid a piece of Deco Foil on top, covering the stenciled image completely.

  • I ran this through the Big Shot, and then removed the foil. The foil on the stencilled pattern was left on the card face.

  • (This stencil is a full circle, at this point I cut the card face in half, and put the other piece aside for future use.)

*** for more detailed information on this process see Foiling Without Heat under the Techniques tab in the header.

Other:

  • I put the black layer into my stamp positioner and prepped the cardstock with an anti static tool. Then I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.

  • I die cut the nativity scene from the gold foil cardstock.

Assembly:

  • I glued the black layer onto the cardbase, and then glued the card face onto that aligning along the bottom edge.

  • I glued the die cut onto the card face, aligning this piece along the bottom edge as well.

  • I glued one of the narrow strips of gold foil cardstock along the top edge of the card face, and the other along the top edge of the card.

  • I added a faceted gold metallic embellishment on both ends of the sentiment.

Final thoughts:

Between silver foil, gold foil cardstock and silver heat embossing this card really sparkles and shines! It is really impactful, and I think the recipient will love it.
