This card was edited after it was first posted online: I was making cards to donate to the Gift Shop in our local hospital, and decided that the small rectangular THANK YOU would be added, and the card included in the donation.

Let’s get started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Black Border: 5.5 x 4.25 ***

Card Face:

I secured the stencil to the card face using Mint Tape, and then applied black ink over the exposed areas, building up intensity until I was satisfied.
I put the card face into my stamp positioner and stamped the owls with Memento black ink, allowing the branch to extend into a space provided by the stencil.
I coloured the owls with alcohol markers.
I created a “puddle” of soft brown metallic watercolour: I used this to spatter the card face and I also dragged the edges of the card face through the puddle.

Assembly:

I glued the black layer to the card base, and the card face on top of this, centering horizontally.

Final Thoughts

This is a fun, whimsical card that will bring a smile to a friend.
