Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencils I used from A Colorful Life Designs . Let’s Get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Card Face: 5.25 x 4

Small Scrap of Cardstock for Sentiment

Card Face:

I secured Portal (stencil) to my card face with Mint Tape. I grabbed my blending brushes and applied a dark teal ink. I applied this in a gradient, getting gradually darker was I moved down the card face.

I removed the first stencil and secured Pulled In (stencil), centering it over the pattern that was just stenciled. Grabbing the brush for grey inks, I applied this with a lighter hand, using a fairly consistent coverage over the entire stencil. (if you've been here before, you'll know that I rarely work to create a smoothly inked image. I like the visual interest that varying ink density gives.)

I put the card face into my stamp positioner, and stamped the image with black ink a few times, until I got the intensity that I wanted.

Other:

I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of scrap cardstock with black ink.

Assembly:

I put dimensional tape onto the back of the card face, and then secured this to the card base, centering it carefully.

I glued the sentiment diagonally across the top left of the card face.

I added small silver triangular embellishments on both ends of the sentiment, as well as to the bike tires.

Final thoughts:

This was one of those cards where I wanted to use a stencil (Portal), but didn't know which direction I wanted to go with it. The card simply evolved as it was sitting on my desk - and I was really happy with the result. I love the strong graphic feel of this stencil, and in the end it paired nicely with the second stencil and the bike rider.
