This card was created for a challenge over at 613 Avenue Create.  The challenge this month is For the Kids,  but Anything Goes is also always an option there. The amazing sponsor for May is Mirtillamente: their digital stamps are fabulous.  Hop on over and check out the awesome entries - and while you’re there,  feel free to share a card and  grow the creativity!

Let’s get Started:

Card Base:    4.25 x 11, scored and folded at  2.75 and 8.25

Blue Border: 4.25 x 2.75 x 2

Card Face: 4 x 2.5 x 2

Card Face:

  • I pulled the digital image into Canva and changed it to the size  I wanted: then I created a copy and flipped it - now I had two identical dinos facing each other.  I left some space between them on the sheet.

  • I downloaded the file and printed it on 80 lb cardstock  (the heaviest that my printer will accept).

  • I coloured the images with alcohol markers.

  • I added an unexpected detail by using a copper metallic gel pen to fill in the polka dots.

  • I used a stamp and dark blue ink to add the detail in the background.

Other:

  • I die-cut the number 2 out of copper foil cardstock.  I also cut a second one out of scrap cardstock and glued them together to strengthen the foil.

  • I die-cut the background shape from scrap cardstock.  I used the same stamp and ink to add interest and ran the edges across the dark blue ink pad.

  • I cut each dino down to 4 x 2.5.

Assembly:

  • I glued the dark blue border pieces to the folds of the cardstock.

  • I added both dino pieces on top of these, centering carefully.

  • I glued the 2 to the background shape.

  • I glued the left-hand side of this piece to the card face.   If I had glued both sides down the card would be glued shut.

Final Thoughts:

This little dino is absolutely adorable: I had such fun creating this card.
