Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Let’s get Started:

Cream Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Cream Border Layer: 5.25 x 4

Cream Card Face: 4.25 x 4.25

Card Face:

  • I laid the card face on the grip mat and then positioned the first layer of the stencil.

  • I brushed brownish-red ink over the exposed areas, layering on ink around some of the edges to add depth.

  • I spattered metallic gold watercolour over the exposed areas and carefully removed the stencil.

  • I positioned the second layer of the stencil and used an embossing pen to fill in the holes for the berries. After removing the stencil I sprinkled sparkly gold embossing powder across the surface. After shaking off the excess powder I used the heat gun to set the gold powder.

  • I put the card face into the stamp positioner and stamped the sentiment with embossing ink. I sprinkled it with gold embossing powder and set it with a heat gun.

Other:

  • I put the border layer into an embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot.

  • I used a metallic copper ink pad to run over the raised areas on the embossed layer.

  • After protecting the back of the card base with a strip of Mint Tape, I brushed copper ink around the edges of the front piece. (I only applied ink up to about ½” on each side as the border layer would cover the rest.)

Assembly

  • I centered and glued the border layer to the card base.

  • I put dimensional foam on the back of the card face and centered this on the other layers.

  • I added faceted gold gems around the wreath to add dimension and finish it off.

Final Thoughts:

I love stretching my supplies and making them go even further than they were designed for: in this card I reimagined this Christmas Wreath stencil for a beautiful autumn card - it worked perfectly.

This card is so luxe with the metallic ink and the gold embossing. I’m looking forward to giving this to my Mom for Thanksgiving.
