Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get started:

Card Base: 5.25 x 10.5, scored and folded at 5.25

Black Border: 2 @ 5.25 x ¼” ***

Card Face: 5.25 x 8.58

Card Face:

  • I sprayed the back of the stencil with Pixie Spray, waited about 20 seconds and then laid it on the card face.

  • I rolled a brayer across the entire surface to ensure good contact between the paper and the stencil.

  • I applied yellow ink across the entire surface, allowing the ink to have differing intensities to create visual interest.

  • Leaving the stencil in place, I spattered the surface with both red and blue metallic watercolours. (The blue took on a green tint when mixed with the yellow.)

  • I was hoping that this would create the look of polka dots on the dresses - it didn’t quite work that way, but the random colourful pattern is fun.

Other:

  • After the spatter and the ink were both completely dry I put the card face into my stamp positioner and stamped the sentiment across the center. with black pigment ink.

  • I sprinkled the ink with clear embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.

  • I trimmed ¼” off of each vertical side.

Assembly:

  • I glued the card face to the card base, centering vertically.

  • I glued the two black border strips in place.

  • I added holographic confetti randomly on the card face.***

Final Thoughts

I love the energy and movement in this stencil, and I think that factor the bright colours plus the sentiment form a great partnership.
