Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencils I used from A Colorful Life Designs.  Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Card Face:   2 each 5.5 x 4

Card Face:

  • I secured the Shards stencil to the card face with Mint Tape and brushed a  soft beige ink overall.

  • I repeated this with the second card face.

  • I secured the Without You stencil to the second card face, aligning on the left and masking off the right-hand edge with a piece of Mint Tape.

  • I applied blue ink overall,  increasing the intensity and saturation towards the bottom.

  • I tore the right-hand edge of this piece, along the edge of the stenciled sentiment.

  • I glued the two card faces together,  aligning at the left-hand edge.

  • I wound metallic copper thread around the card face on the right-hand side, securing both ends with scotch tape.

  • I used another small piece of the thread to pull the thread together towards the bottom, tying  a knot to secure this.

  • I put a drop of glue on the knot to make sure it stayed put.

  • I ran all four edges of the card face over the beige ink pad,  colouring the edges.

Assembly:

  • I glued the card face to the card base.

  • I added a small copper-coloured bead, gluing it in place over the knot in the thread.

Final Thoughts

The tearing on the card face is a fun, unexpected detail which makes the card interesting.
