Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Let’s get Started:
Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25
Card Face: 5.25 x 4
Card Face:
After placing the card face on my grip mat I positioned the stencil.
I masked off the bottle to protect it from stray ink and used yellow, pink, blue and green inks for the “explosion”, taking care not to overlap colours that would become muddy.
I moved the masking to protect the colours just inked, and brushed royal blue onto the bottle. I added more colour to the left, allowing it to fade to the right.
I put the card face into the stamp positioner and stamped the woman with Versafine Onyx a couple of times. (I wanted her to stand out against that brightly coloured background.)
Removing the card face from the stamp positioner I sprinkled on clear embossing powder and set it with my heat gun. (I find that this makes the ink more intense.)
I added the Celebrate, using the same ink and following the same steps.
I removed the paper from the positioner and set it aside for a while to dry. (Versafine is pigment ink and stays wet longer than dye ink.)
I added the streamers and confetti with an acrylic block, using Versamark embossing ink.
I added silver embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.
Other:
I masked off the back of the card base with Mint Tape and applied royal blue ink to the borders of the front. (this replaced the need for a piece of cardstock)
Assembly
I glued the card face to the card base.
Final Thoughts:
When I first saw this stencil my immediate thought was New Year’s Eve, but then I started to think about reasons for breaking open a bottle of champagne, and there are many! So this became a different sort of card.
I love the look of the right-hand edge of the bottle - it looks like bright light bouncing off the neck of the bottle.
