Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencils I used from A Colorful Life Designs.  Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get Started:

Card Base: 4.25 x 11, scored and folded at 5.5

Card Face: 3.75 x 5

Card Face:

  • The Marvellous Masks sets from A Colorful Life Designs all include several different sizes, and each size includes both mask and stencil. For this card I selected the second largest size, using both mask and stencil.

  • I laid the card face on my Grip Mat and added the stencil portion of the Squeezed Rectangle.  I centered this carefully on the card face and then inked the surface with peach ink.

  • I removed the stencil and put the mask in place covering the section I just inked, protecting it.

  • I laid the Starred Happy Birthday stencil overtop and applied dark blue ink.

  • I put the card face into my stamp positioner and added the sentiment with black ink.

  • I pulled the edges of the card face across the dark blue ink pad, creating a fine border.

Other:

  • I pulled the bird, hat and present from my Ready To Go binder *.  They had already been stamped, coloured and cut out and were waiting to find a home on a card.

*See Ready To Go Binder under Techniques in the header to learn how I use this tool to save both time and money.

  • I opened the card base and laid it flat on my Grip Mat. I masked off the back of this by laying a piece of Mint Tape across the width,  butting right up to the fold.

  • I put the Starred Happy Birthday stencil in place over the front of the card base and added the same peach ink used earlier.

Assembly:

  • I glued the card face to the card base, centering on all four sides.

  • I glued the bird on,  adding the hat and present as shown in the image, positioning them above the sentiment.

  • I scattered bling above and below the bird as shown.

Final Thoughts:

This cardstock is 110 lb,  so the card gets bulky very quickly.  I was able to limit that by stencilling on the card base instead of using a separate layer.

I love this stamp set,  and it played so well with these two stencils -  I’m happy with this wacky card.  😀
