Design Cards Sure to Bring A Smile (and maybe a chuckle!)

I would like to introduce you to Melvin ... "that guy" who knows

everything about everything. Sigh....

Let’s Get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Blue Layer: 5.5 x 4.25

Card Face:: 5.25 x 4

Small Scraps of Cardstock for Sentiment

Card Face:

  • I secured a stencil to the card face and used my blending brushes to apply yellow and blue inks randomly.

  • I used deckled dies to cut two rectangles into the card face.

Other:

  • I stamped Melvin and coloured him using alcohol markers.

  • I cut him out manually, as I don't have a die for him.

  • I stamped and die cut the sentiment, and then cut a blue rectangle slightly larger to become a background for the sentiment.

Assembly:

  • I glued the blue cardstock to the card base, and then added the outer section of the card face on top of that, centering on all four sides.

  • I added the other two sections of the card face, lining up edges carefully as I glued them in place.

  • I added Melvin, gluing him down directly on the card face.

  • I added a shadow at Melvin's feet to ground him, as well as a grey line to be the separation between wall and floor.

  • With all that done, I found that wanted a little more detail behind Melvin: so I drew in some colourful confetti around him.

Final thoughts:

Melvin is really happy in his world, where he's an authority on everything. LOL.

I love how this came out - this stamp has so much personality, it's fun to work him into different scenarios.

Supplies: (and links where possible)

I have listed which products I have used, and where they were purchased. It's a huge marketplace and in most instances there are multiple sources and many alternatives to choose from.
