Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs.  Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Card Face: 5.25 x 4

Card Face:

  • I had already stamped the mouse image and coloured it with alcohol markers.

  • I laid the card face on my Grip Mat, positioned the stencil on top and grabbed my red blending brush.

  • I used the residual ink on the brush across the surface:  I used a light hand and avoided the coloured image, coming close but not touching it.

  • I removed the stencil and put the card face into my stamp positioner.

  • I stamped the sentiment with black ink,  repeating it several times until I had built up the intensity to the desired level.

  • I took the card face out of the positioner and brushed red ink on each of the edges, using a light hand.

  • I ran each edge of the card face across the red ink pad to create a narrow, intense border.

  • I used a Stitched Rectangle die to cut the sentiment out of the card face.

Assembly:

I centered the card face on the card base and glued it down.

I glued the sentiment back into it's spot in the card face. (the cut line served to draw more attention to the sentiment)

Final Thoughts:

I had already coloured the cute little mouse and wasn’t certain how to use it at that point  (not uncommon in my craft room, LOL).     I decided to try the stencil as a background,  and I’m happy with the result.  Using a light hand with the stencil ensured that the mouse and the sentiment remained the focus.
