Would you like to experiment with a design like this? You'll find a supply list below, including a link to the stencil I used from A Colorful Life Designs. Follow the link and use discount code ChrisFan10 to save 10% on your entire order! (Master Creator Bundles are excluded as they already have a 20% discount built in.)

Let’s get Started:

Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

Card Face: 5.25 x 4

Vellum: 6 x 2

Card Face:

  • I placed the card face on a piece of scrap paper, positioned the stencil and secured it with Mint Tape. (I didn’t want to risk getting the gel on my Grip Mat.)

  • I used a palette knife to spread Duo Gel across the exposed areas. **

  • After the gel dried (it goes on white, and dries clear. The drying time depends on how thick the layer of gel is.) I laid a piece of transfer foil over it, pretty side up.

  • I ran the card face through my Big Shot: when I removed the transfer foil the gel caused the foil to stick to the stencilled pattern, while the rest pulled away.

Other:

  • I turned my heat gun on and allowed it to get very hot before using it on the vellum.

  • I dusted the vellum thoroughly with anti-static powder.

  • I stamped the image using Versamark embossing ink, added silver embossing powder and set it with my heat gun.

While using a heat gun on vellum I keep it moving constantly to avoid scorching or burning the surface.

Assembly

I positioned the vellum on the card face and folded the ends around the back, securing these with tape.

I glued the card face to the card base.

I added bits of bling randomly on the card face.

Final Thoughts:

The elements in this card play really well together! The shine of the foil and the bling, combined with the matte vellum and whimsical image: they make me smile.

This stamp has retired now, which seems a shame, as I love it.
