Without a care....

Spinning around and around as ast as you can.... I've always thought this looked like such fun, although I distinctly remember ending up on my backside anytime I put skates on, never mind trying to do twirlies! A hand made card featuring this clever cutie is the closest I'll ever come to doing that!

Card base: 5.5 x 8.5, scored and folded at 4.25

yellow border: 5.25 x 4

card face: 5 1/8 x 3 7/8

to create the card face -

  • The wee skater was stamped with Memento ink, and then coloured with alcohol markers

  • I don't have a die for this stamp, so I stamped onto masking paper and created a mask by fussy cutting it. This protected the image as I applied the stencils.

  • Two stencils were used to create a sense of movement in the background, one with ink and the other (the one with stars) with Lunar Paste

Once the card face was complete

  • it was glued to the yellow card stock, creating a narrow border all the way around. This was then glued to the card base.

  • Metallic gold pearls were added to the center of the stars as a finishing touch.

No sentiment - yet! (I haven't decided what the card will be used for.)

Final thoughts: I am slowly becoming more comfortable with alcohol markers, so each piece I do is a learning experience. I was really pleased with how much movement was added by the use of Sprinkles Flow, which is the stencil with the short yellow lines. This was my first attempt with Lunar paste, (which was used for the Shooting Stars stencil) and although you can't see it in the image, it has a beautiful sheen to it. What I would change - I wouldn't use either stencil around the skates, as they tend to get lost amongst all of the lines and colours.
